A 26-year-old Philadelphia man was pronounced dead early Saturday after he struck multiple cars while driving the wrong way on I-95, state police said.
The man got on I-95 northbound near Cottman Avenue and drove south shortly before 2:30 a.m., state police said. He sideswiped one vehicle driven by a 38-year-old man from Orlando, Fla., and another operated by a 41-year-old Levittown man. The motorist then hit a third car driven by a 31-year-old Philadelphia man. His vehicle then entered another lane and hit a fourth vehicle driven by a 37-year-old Philadelphia.
The driver who was traveling the wrong way was declared dead at the scene, according to state police. His identity was not been released.
The drivers of the other four vehicles were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, state police said.
