A Newtown Township man stabbed his father to death early Friday, telling his mother the violent attack was prompted by “22 years of abuse,” according to prosecutors in Bucks County.

Jordan Kurman, 22, was taken into custody outside the townhouse he shared with his parents on David Drive. He has been charged with homicide and possessing an instrument of a crime, and remains in custody, denied bail. There was no indication he had hired an attorney.

Just before 5 a.m. Friday, officers from Newtown Township received reports of a man in cardiac arrest, according to the affidavit of probable cause for Kurman’s arrest. When they arrived, the officers found Kurman standing in the driveway of his home, wearing bloodstained clothes, the affidavit said.

Inside the home, they found a trail of blood leading into the living room, where Kurman’s father, Gregory, was lying on the floor, the document said. The elder Kurman, 49, had a deep cut to his throat and was lying in a pool of blood, the affidavit said.

On the floor beside him, investigators said, was a bloodstained kitchen knife.

Kurman’s wife told detectives she was upstairs earlier that morning and heard screaming and arguing. When she went to investigate, she said, she saw her son drop the bloody knife.

She said he told her he stabbed his father because of years of abuse, and told her to call 911, the affidavit said.
