The Inquirer’s Beatrice Forman mapped the best water ice and gelati shops in the region, which includes none other than Cherry’s Ice Cream & Water Ice.
She called the Church Road staple a “gelati wonderland,” noting it has three soft serve machines churning nine flavors that can be eaten on their own or paired with 18 flavors of water ice.
Can’t decide? She suggests a pistachio and cold brew mashup to create a dupe of the increasingly popular Dubai chocolate.

A Cherry Hill man and former correctional officer has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for sexually abusing and violating the civil rights of an inmate under his authority at the Federal Detection Center Philadelphia in 2024. Michael Jefferson, 43, also faces 10 years of supervised release after his prison sentence.
Reminder for residents: In-person early voting for the primary continues through Sunday. You can cast your early ballot at the Carmen Tilelli Community Center today through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Here’s everything you need to know for the June 2 election, when Congress is on the ballot.
Heads up for drivers: There are new traffic patterns starting today on Kresson Road with a full road closure between Cropwell and Evesham Roads from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. through Friday.
The police department is warning residents about phone scams where callers impersonate law enforcement. Residents shouldn’t engage with suspicious callers and should verify the authenticity by calling the department in question directly.
In case you missed it, Bed Bath & Beyond is making a return to the region after filing for bankruptcy in 2023. The popular home retailer is partnering with the Container Store to open a dual-branded concept at the Container Store location by the mall.
6abc recently profiled trailblazing Cherry Hill resident May Brill. The 102-year-old military veteran, who was part of the Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service during World War II, has worked to ensure women are recognized for their service in the armed forces. See the segment here.
🏫 Schools Briefing
The school district is continuing to address its decreased state funding with the Department of Education commissioner, Superintendent Kwame Morton said in a recent letter to the community. Last month, the school board passed its 2026-27 budget, which calls for eliminating 70 positions and increasing property taxes 7.4%.

A number of Cherry Hill students were recognized last week by the Camden County commissioners as “Best of Class” recipients. The awards were given to high school seniors throughout the county across eight categories. The 2026 Cherry Hill honorees are Brooke Levy (East) and Miliana Orlov (West), who won leadership awards; Christy Mensah (East) and Anna Bougazelli (West), who received community service awards; Jaden Green (East) and Oliver Matthias (West), who were recipients in the most improved category; Lukas Ortega (East) and Alaina Cote (West), who were recognized with performing arts awards; Shane Peeler (East) and Jackson Dunn Kraus (West), recipients of courage awards; Hunter Sobus (East) and Essence Bishop (West), recipients of school spirit awards; Anna Bardunias (East) and Salma Mitwalli (West), who were recognized with the overall awards; and Ryan Moyer (East) and Lilly Legato (West), who were recognized as all-star athletes.

Paris Baguette is hosting a grand opening today for its location at 951 Haddonfield Rd., which soft opened last month at Garden State Park. The bakery chain, known for its selection of cakes, pastries, sandwiches, and drinks, is offering a buy one, get one free deal on pastries from 6 a.m. to noon.
Ponzio’s is one of the best diners in South Jersey, according to BestofNJ.com, which noted that the full-service bar and in-house bakery set it apart from the traditional diner experience.
