1 killed, 2 critically injured in overnight Broad Street crash
A female was killed early Saturday morning when the car she was riding in struck another car on Broad Street in Philadelphia.
A female passenger was killed early Saturday morning when the car she was riding in struck another car on Broad Street in North Philadelphia.
Two others were critically injured in the 2:42 a.m. crash at Broad and Oxford Streets, according to police.
The female, who was not identified, was traveling south on Broad in a 2006 Chevy Malibu driven by a 24-year-old male at “a high rate of speed” at the time of the crash, police said.
The Malibu broadsided a a 2011 Dodge Charger that was turning left at Oxford, according to a police report. Both vehicles ended up on a sidewalk.
The female was pronounced dead at the scene. The Malibu’s driver was taken to Jefferson Hospital and listed in critical condition. The 37-year-old male driving the Charger was also taken to Jefferson. He was in critical condition as of Saturday afternoon.
Police said the cause of the crash remained under investigation.
