One man killed, another injured in Kensington shooting

A 23-year-old man was killed in a shooting Saturday evening in the Kensington section of Philadelphia, police said. It was part of a violent day in the city.

A 23-year-old man was killed in a shooting Saturday evening in the Kensington section of Philadelphia, police said.

Police were called around 5:52 p.m. to an apartment on the 2900 block of Jasper Street and found two men with gunshot wounds. The unidentified 23-year-old, who was shot once in the chest, was pronounced dead at 6:07 p.m. at Temple University Hospital. The other man, 27, was shot once in the right arm and was at Temple hospital in stable condition, police said.

Police said a 26-year-old man was placed in custody and they found two guns at the scene.

The shooting death was part of a violent Saturday in Philadelphia.

A 25-year-old man was shot once in the left arm and placed in custody because he had a gun and drugs on him, police said. The incident occurred around 6:28 p.m. on the 5200 block of Arch Street. There were no other arrests or weapons found.

In Germantown, a man in his 40s was shot multiple times in his lower body, police said. Officers were called to the 4600 block of Wayne Avenue and drove the man to Einstein Medical Center, where he was in critical condition. Police said they made an arrest but didn’t recover a weapon.

A 32-year-old transgender female was in critical condition after being stabbed multiple times, police said. Officers were called to the 200 block of Montana Street in East Mount Airy for a report of two people fighting. There, they found the victim running downstairs covered in blood. The victim was taken to Einstein Hospital.

Police said they arrested 45-year-old Robert Easley, who allegedly ripped the victim’s clothes off before stabbing the victim with a knife. Easley was charged with attempted rape, aggravated assault, and related offenses, police said.
