The places that locals love: Help us find Philly’s neighborhood gems
We're building a guide to Philadelphia's neighborhood gems — from restaurants and bars to parks, murals, and shops. Share the places that make your neighborhood feel like home.

In honor of America’s 250th birthday, we’re celebrating the places that make Philadelphia feel like, well, Philadelphia.
Not the obvious attractions you’ve seen a hundred times. We’re talking about the neighborhood gems — the corner bar where everyone knows your order, the under-the-radar BYOB you gatekeep, the park you swear has the best sunset, the tucked away street with the most iconic row of Philly homes, the bookstore you could spend hours in, the free public arcade a neighbor built outside their stoop, the sledding hill, the mural you always pass and still look at.
As part of our “76″ series, we’re building a guide to neighborhood gems like these that shape and enrich daily life across Philly. We want the spots that matter in every neighborhood, the places that feel essential to the people who live there.
And most importantly, we want your help. Tell us about the streets, restaurants, bars, shops, libraries, shops, parks, playgrounds, public art, and everyday places that make your neighborhood feel like home. The smaller, the more personal, the better.
But don’t send it in if you want it to stay a secret! Based on your suggestions and our own reporting, we’ll put out a master list of these special city places sometime this summer.
