Man found dead at scene of Southwest Philly rowhouse fire

Crews responded to the heavy fire coming from the second floor of a two-story rowhouse.

Fire crews responding to a rowhouse fire in the Elmwood section of Southwest Philadelphia late Wednesday found a man dead in the second-floor bedroom, officials said.

Crews were called to the two-story house on the 2500 block of South 67th Street about 10 p.m. The blaze was under control about a half-hour later.

The man, 26, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. The Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause of death. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
