Fire intentionally set at West Philadelphia’s Saad’s early Wednesday
Police say no one was injured.

Philadelphia police are investigating an early morning arson incident that played out Wednesday at Saad’s Halal Restaurant, the West Philly staple known for its chicken maroosh.
“The fire was very small, just out front at the bottom of the front door,” said Philadelphia Fire Department spokesperson Rachel Cunningham.
Saad Alrayes, owner of the business, could not immediately be reached for comment, but police said no injuries were reported and the building on the 4500 block of Walnut Street was secured by early morning.
Police and fire departments responded to a call around 3:45 a.m. The department’s Fire Marshal declared it an incendiary incident at 7:15 a.m., meaning the blaze was intentionally set.
Police continue to investigate.
Saad’s is a favorite among many, including college students and the local Muslim community, making various “best of” lists in the city, including The Inquirer’s 76.
