Football: Kline steps down at Springfield (D)

Citing personal reasons, Tom Kline has stepped down as head football coach at Springfield (Delaware County) after three seasons.

"I live in Downingtown," he said. "The distance away from my family was becoming an issue. I need to spend more time with my wife and kids. That's my No. 1 focus right now."

Kline posted a 21-12 record with the Cougars. This year's squad went 6-5 overall and 5-4 in the Central League.

Kline was at Springfield for six seasons. He previously was an assistant at West Chester Rustin, Lower Merion, West Chester East, and Great Valley.

Kline and his wife have two sons, ages 9 and 5.
