Also among the sea of prominent African-American influence makers at Relish today was George Burrell who was part of former Mayor John Street's cabinet for 6 1/2 years.
Street has toyed with the idea of running as an independent for City Council, but Burrell said he couldn't see his former boss doing that.
"It's hard for me to imagine that (former) Mayor Street could see going back to City Council in a non-leadership capacity," Burrell said. "There isn't enough time to raise the kind of money to run competitively as an independent in the mayoral campaign. I see him as one who continues to be interested in public (issues)."
Still, Burrell said if Street ran as an independent for City Council he would win.
