Man falls into elevator shaft, hospitalized

A 25-year-old man fell into an elevator shaft Friday night in a building on Chestnut Street near 7th in Center City.

Fire officials said the man was stuck between the elevator and the wall and suffered multiple injuries.

However officials couldn't specify how severe the man's injuries were early Saturday morning, and it was unclear how the man fell into the shaft.

The incident was reported just before midnight, and the man was transported to Jefferson University Hospital nearby at about 1 a.m.
