Police: Man, 30, is second shot dead in broad daylight in Kensington today

In Kensington's second broad-daylight homicide of the day, police say a 30-year-old man was fatally shot shortly before 4 p.m. Wednesday.

The victim, who has not yet been identified, was on Westmoreland Street near Front at 3:41 p.m. when someone opened fire on him, striking him five times in the head, according to preliminary information on the shooting from police. The man was taken to Temple University Hospital by medics and pronounced dead there at 4:06 p.m.

About five hours earlier and six blocks away, a 38-year-old man was fatally shot at D Street and Indiana Avenue.

Police reported no motive or suspects in either slaying.
