Police investigate new Kensington assault and Oxford Circle shooting
Police are investigating an assault on a woman in Kensington this morning which comes on the heels of two months of assaults on women in the area, and they are also looking into a shooting and robbery this morning in Oxford Circle that left a man in critical condition.

Around 2:11 a.m., a 36-year-old woman was hit in the back of the head with a brick and threatened with a pair of scissors while on Sergeant Street near Kensington Avenue, police said. The suspect, whose description was not immediately available, attempted to rape her but she managed to escape, according to police.
Authorities have not yet said if the assault is connected to a series of attacks on women in Kensington and the immediate area, including the death of Allison Edwards, 22, on Friday, the latest of three women to be slain by strangulation since Nov. 3.
Four other women claimed to have been choked, most to the point of unconsciousness, since early October. In fact, one of those victims said she was choked and sexually assaulted on Oct. 31 at the exact same location as this morning's victim.
Also this morning, a man who was working on his laptop while in the driver's seat of his car which was parked in Oxford Circle, was shot in the neck and robbed of his computer by an unknown gunman around 1:10 a.m., police said.
The 22-year-old victim was in the parked 1995 Honda with two friends when the robber walked up to his driver's side window and demanded the computer, according to police. When he resisted, the assailant shot him once in the neck and fled with his laptop, police said. The two other men in the car were not injured.
The victim was taken to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in critical condition, according to police. Authorities did not know what the man was doing in his car or on his computer nor did they know if his car window was down when the robber approached. The suspect is described as a black man in his 20s, between 6 feet 1 and 6 feet 3 with light facial hair.
