Two arrested in Center City beating

Two men have been arrested in connection to an assault and robbery in Center City last month, police said today.

Matthew Morris, 27, and Miguel Maldonado, 32, have been charged with robbery and related offenses for an incident Nov. 10 in which the two allegedly attacked a 36-year-old man at Camac Street near Walnut, police said.

The suspects were identified after surveillance footage from the scene recorded one of them punching the victim from behind, knocking him down.

The suspect continued to punch the victim while he was prone, eventually making off with his wallet, cellphone and gold necklace.

Several tips identifying Morris as the attacker led to his arrest Saturday, followed shortly by Maldonado's, according to police.
