Woman found dead in Germantown apartment

A 69-year-old woman was found fatally stabbed in her apartment last night, Chief Inspector Scott Small said.

The victim's roommate, an unidentified male, came home about 9 p.m. and discovered her body lying in their blood-covered kitchen in the apartment, located at Wayne Avenue near School House Lane.

Medics pronounced her dead at the scene. She had stab wounds to her neck and chest, where the knife apparently used in the killing was still embedded, Small said.

The roommate who contacted authorities was taken to the Homicide Unit for questioning, per standard police procedure.

Small said there were no known motives, nor information on a suspect. An investigation was ongoing.
