Aldine adds Sunday brunch and fixed-price dinner

Aldine - George and Jennifer Sabatino's progressive-American restaurant upstairs at 19th and Chestnut Streets - has started Sunday brunch and a fixed-price Sunday dinner.

Brunch, running from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., will include such dishes as poached eggs on toast with crispy potatoes and horseradish aioli; a daily omelette with cultured butter and arugula salad; gluten-free pancakes with caramelized bananas and vanilla butter; and grilled romaine hearts with chilled shrimp and an "almost" Caesar dressing. Side dishes will include house-made, thick cut Berkshire bacon that comes with hot sauce, breakfast sausage patties served with maple syrup, and granola with house-made yogurt and seasonal fruit preserves. Everything possible is made in-house and from scratch, except for the ketchup. Menu is here.

Effective Dec. 20, the dinner format will be a three-course fixed-price menu for $35, starting at 5 p.m.

The first two courses will include three selections from the regular dinner menu followed by two choices for dessert. This will be the only menu available on Sunday evening.
