Bluecoat Gin’s new barrel finished offering hits stores

Philadelphia Distilling’s Bluecoat Gin quickly became one of cocktail culture’s most beloved spirits following its debut in 2006, and now the brand will see an expansion in the form of its new barrel finished series.

Philadelphia Distilling's Bluecoat Gin quickly became one of cocktail culture's most beloved spirits following its debut in 2006, and now the brand will see an expansion in the form of its new barrel finished offering.

Hitting Pennsylvania Wine & Spirits stores April 3, Bluecoat Barrel Finished Gin plays off the latest trend in cocktail culture by finishing their gin in oak barrels for at least three months at a time. According to a press release, the gin is a "true small-batch process" that only allows production of six barrels per run.

"The barrel finishing process enhances the rounder, softer notes and introduces hints of caramel and whiskey without sacrificing juniper or pepper notes, distiller Bill Tambussi says of the new line. "This creates a truly unique spirit that provides an amazingly fragrant and complex flavor."

Bluecoat Barrel Finished Gin is available in select areas for 30 days only. So if you're a gin lover, get yourself in gear — early reviews say Bluecoat's new line has "a whole lot going on." Most recently, Bluecoat's new gin won a silver medal in the 2015 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
