Brew debut: Rothaus Tannenzäpfle and Füchschen Alt get tapped at Brauhaus Schmitz

Oktoberfest isn’t the only opportunity to get your German beer fix.

Oktoberfest isn't the only opportunity to get your German beer fix.

Authentic German bierhall, Brauhaus Schmitz (718 South St.) will tap Rothaus Tannenzäpfle, a pilsner brewed from the Black Forest Region in Germany on Friday, Feb. 20 at 7 p.m..

So what's so special about this brew? It's the first time the pilsner will be available on draft in the United States. The beer will be available in a .5 liters glass for $7.50.

If Bavarian brew fans can't get to Brauhaus Schmitz on Feb. 20, there's another notable, exclusive beer event. On Saturday, March 14 the U.S. launch of Düsseldorf's Füchschen Alt, a copper-colored Altbier that's been brewed since 1848 will debut and be poured the correct way, into an Alt glass.
