Now you can eat like everyone's favorite new antihero, Deadpool, courtesy of Cantina Dos Segundos in Northern Liberties. If you're into chimichangas, that is.
Specifically, poutine chimichangas.
Cantina first unveiled their take on one of Deadpool's favorite foods last week, officially naming it the "Deadpool Poutine Chimichanga" in anticipation of the film's February 12 release. Stuffed with poutine ingredients like braised short rib, bacon, and french fries, it's about as ridiculous as the character that inspired it:
And it ain't to bad looking in real life, either:
After being removed from the menu for a short time following its limited release, the Deadpool Poutine Chimichanga is now back on Cantina's menu "by popular demand." Deadpool opened Friday, February 12 to a $300 million weekend debut worldwide:
Deadpool the character, meanwhile, has become known for his apparent love of chimichangas — a word the antihero uses constantly and at random, as is his nature. But for all the love Deadpool's fans have for chimichangas, the man himself actually doesn't like eating them all that much.
As Deadpool reveals in Cable & Deadpool Volume 1 Issue 13, his obsession is more over the word itself:
That shouldn't keep you from enjoying one, though. As Mark Shrayber at Uproxx says, despite its ridiculous qualities, this thing is actually pretty good.
If you're not a fan of chimichangas, however, don't fret. Tt's only a matter of time before movie-inspired versions of Deadpool's other favorite foods — pancakes and tacos — make their way onto a menu somewhere.
