Too much of anything can be a good thing.
But when you calculate the rapid expansion of the restaurant scene on East Passyunk Avenue versus the number of on-street spaces as well as spots inside the municipal lot on the 1600 block, you have frustration. Many of the customers whom the restaurateurs are trying to lure are not of the hunt-for-a-spot-and-walk-several-blocks mind-set.
So two years ago, the East Passyunk Avenue Business Improvement District started valet parking on Friday and Saturday nights.
Now it's gone one better:
Valet parking service has been expanded from weekends to six days a week, Tuesday through Sunday, from 5 p.m. to midnight, at stations at the Singing Fountain (1500 block, where it crosses Tasker Avenue and 11th Street) and outside Le Virtu (1900 block).
The third valet station is not affected by this new development and will continue to operate in front of the parking lot (between Tasker and Morris) on Friday and Saturday nights, from 5 p.m. till midnight.
Validated rates are $12 per car, and non-validated rates are $21. Both will now include a donation to Neumann-Goretti High School. Validating restaurants include:
Birra, Brigantessa, Cantina los Caballitos, Da Vinci Ristorante, Fond, Izumi, Laurel, Le Virtu, Mamma Maria Ristorante, Noord, Paradiso, Stateside, Townsend, Tre Scalini and Will.
