Insiders talk about starting a food business

Launchology, a series of three panels on Feb. 23, will help people who hope to open a food business.

Everyone, it seems, is starting a restaurant, food truck, or other food business.

Whom do you ask for help?

To help provide the answers, the restaurant-industry group industree is gathering experts for a program called Launchology. It will be three panels on Monday, Feb. 23, 2015, from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Center for Architecture (1218 Arch St.).

Topics will be Taking Care of Business (the "fun stuff," such as accountants, partnership agreements, and budgeting); Construction and Design (including potential obstacles and how to build a dream concept); and Operations (hiring/training, managing food cost/inventory, breeding loyalty and building a company culture).

Among the panelists are Rob Keddie (who runs the operations of the Garces Group), David Robkin (an investor in Honeygrow and other restaurants), Doug Green (a commercial real estate broker with MSC Retail), and Ed Eimer (of Eimer Design). Michael Klein of Philly.com and the Inquirer will moderate.

Ticket info is here, though you also can enter to win passes here. Deadline for entry is 1 p.m. Feb. 18 and winners will be drawn at random.
