That's right, we're talking cheesesteaks.
Specifically, the "Wildcat Cheesesteak," which Chef Mark Cornish, Aramark Executive Chef at NRG Stadium, developed in honor of Villanova's appearance in the Final Four. On Saturday, Villanova squares off against the University of Oklahoma.
In terms of makeup, the sandwich about as traditional as they come — right down to the Amoroso rolls, which Aramark plans to fly in to Houston from Philly. Aramark is the exclusive food and beverage provider at NRG Stadium, and also services the Wells Fargo Center and Citizens Bank Park.
The Wildcat Cheesesteak is one of four sandwiches Chef Cornish developed for the final stretch of the NCAA tournament. He also created dishes for the other three teams involved: Carolina Pulled Pork for the University of North Carolina, Sooner Fried Steak for the University of Oklahoma, and Syracuse Sausage and Salt Potatoes for Syracuse University.
For those attending Saturday's game in Houston, the Wildcat Cheesesteak will be available at the Grady's Carvery in section 109. Philadelphians at the game, however, should note that there are no guarantees that they'll know what you're talking about when you ask for a "whiz wit."
