Sushi at a corner bar in Northern Liberties

Jerry's Bar, tucked off the main drag, does incredible sushi four nights a week.

Sushi eaters usually abide a few rules - among them, never order it on Monday or from a convenience store.

How about sushi from a corner bar in Northern Liberties?

You very much should try the sushi at Jerry's Bar, a trusted friend told me: Incredibly fresh, beautifully presented, and priced right. Then I stopped in to try it, complimented her good taste, and told her that I had to write about it.

Then she mentally kicked herself because she wants it all to herself.

Father-daughter owners Bill Proud and Christie Proud Bernstein hired a Burmese-born crew - led by Naw Nbawn - to work the sushi counter, which is set up at the end of its covered patio. Sushi is offered from 4 to 10 p.m. Thursday to Sunday. Of course, Jerry's regular menu, under the direction of new chef Vincent Giannini, is on, too.

There are a couple of cold salads, a collection of rolls, uramaki, and even a sake cocktail.

Menu is here.
