New weekend brunch options: Eat-A-Pita, Twisted Tail, Bar Bombon, Bernie's
Here are a few new brunches:
Eat-A-Pita, the pita specialist at 128 S. 12th St., has started weekend brunch, adding pancakes, eggs, quiche, tofu scramble, plus stuffed pita french toast and egg pita panini. It's on from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Bernie's, the bar-restaurant on Highland Avenue in Glenside, makes it weekends at Bernie's with brunch on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with live jazz (11 a.m. to 2 p.m) on Sundays. Brunch entrees include Challah French Toast banana, caramel or syrup & powdered sugar ($9); Yogurt Parfait with layers of granola, blueberries, strawberries, yogurt & strawberry compote ($7); Bernie's eggs Benedict poached eggs, sautéed spinach, canadian bacon, over english muffins & smothered with hollandaise ($9); Huevos Rancheros fried eggs served over corn tortillas, refried beans, salsa, guacamole, sour cream & pico de gallo ($9); And Shrimp and Grits sautéed shrimp, mushrooms, scallions & bacon. served over cheese grits ($11).
Bar Bombón, the vegan bar on 18th Street near Rittenhouse Square, serves Saturday and Sunday brunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Highlights from the brunch menu additions include French toast (sourdough banana toast, coconut whip "cream," maple syrup); pancakes; porridge; grits; and tofu scramble, plus cocktails.
Twisted Tail, on Second Street near Head House Square, has added a bunch of brunch items, including praline French toast with whipped marscapone, pecans and maple syrup; Catfish Sandwhich with tartar sauce, pear slaw and arugula on a baguette; Brisket Hash with smoked tomato jam and poached eggs; and egg cassoulet with black eyed peas, roasted tomatoes and grilled baguette.
