Old City's Sassafras marks its 5th anniversary with a blow-out

Kenn Kweder will play tonight.

Sassafras has been at 48 S. Second St. in Old City for decades, but it was May 16, 2008, that Donal McCoy and Neil Laughlin reopened after serious renovations.

So tonight (5/16), they will  host a party and concert.

It starts at 5 p.m. with $5 food and drink specials, including Hibiscus Mojitos, handcrafted Manhattans and Martinis, craft drafts, house wine pours, Cherry Pepper Hummus and Pita, Beer Battered Fish Bites and more.

At  6 p.m., Kenn Kweder will play. Admission is free to the public. Food and drinks are pay-as-you-go. Mascot 'John Deer' will oversee the celebration by donning a special tribute outfit.
