Philly beer women join forces for a pre-Valentine’s party

In honor of Valentine’s Day, 11 female Philly beer reps are joining forces to host a brew-filled party and fundraiser.

Girls just wanna ... drink beer?

In honor of Valentine's Day, a group of 11 female Philly beer reps are joining forces to host a brew-filled party and fundraiser. The 2015 Galentine's Day bash will take place at Field House (across from Reading Terminal Market) on Wed., Feb. 11, and will feature a special draft lineup, a rare beer raffle and a Cupid costume contest with a red carpet strut.

Though beer salespeople must compete with one another for spots on increasingly crowded tap lists, these beer-savvy women — who represent some of the best craft breweries in the nation, from Delaware's Dogfish Head to California's Firestone Walker — are all friends. It doesn't happen often, but on this night they'll all be in the same place at the same time, channeling the loving spirit of the holiday to raise money for a good cause.

From 6 to 10 p.m., beers donated by each rep will flow from the bar's 40 taps, and baskets filled with rare bottles and cool collectibles will be raffled off.

At 8 p.m., a Cupid costume contest begins, culminating with a red carpet strut and awards ceremony an hour later (be forewarned, there may be bare-chested men wearing wings during this part of the festivities).

Proceeds will be donated to the Kinney Center, a nonprofit organization at St. Joseph's University that works with children with autism and their families, and Field House will match all funds raised.

Megan Maguire, who represents Ommegang, Duvel and Boulevard Brewing, chose the Kinney Center as charity partner because of the fantastic care and support they've provided to her niece, who was diagnosed in the autism spectrum at age 3.

Maguire will be joined by Suzanne Woods (aka the Beer Lass, of Allagash), Wendy Domurat (Dogfish Head), Joanna Manzo (Smuttynose), Betsy Riley (Great Lakes), Caitlyn Bursak (Oskar Blues), Kristin Caine (Yards), Mary Grace Hodge (Flying Fish), Kristen Madgitz (Evolution), Liz Einhorn (Sam Adams) and Jenny Hobbs (Firestone Walker).
