Roaring '20s to pop up at Glen Foerd on the Delaware
Jazz Age on the Delaware will turn the estate Glen Foerd on the Delaware (5001 Grant Ave.) into a Roaring '20-style party from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1.
Natanya DiBona, who helps organize Philadelphia's annual Diner en Blanc pop-up events, is behind another outdoor event, premiering this summer.
Jazz Age on the Delaware will turn the estate Glen Foerd on the Delaware (5001 Grant Ave.) into a Roaring '20-style party from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1. The setting, a Gilded Age-era mansion, is not much of a stretch for what DiBona and her team have planned: picnics, vintage-inspired food and drink, 1920s music and dancing (including Charleston lessons), lawn games and a pie-baking contest.
As Diner on Blanc attendees must wear white, Jazz Age-goers are encouraged to wear '20s duds.
Tickets (starting at $38 plus Eventbrite fee, and free for children ages 12 and under) are on sale here. There's a VIP package ($125 plus fee) that includes butlered hors d'ouevres, a raw bar, and choice of entree.
Proceeds will support Glen Foerd preservation.
Attendees can pack your own lunch (no outside alcohol), or order meals ($14 and $18) from Jamie Hollander Gourmet Foods and Catering, the on-site caterer.
