Swap cookies for a limited edition Yards beer at City Tap House

Got some extra holiday cookies lying around? About 25 or so? Then City Tap House has a beer for you.

Got some extra holiday cookies lying around? About 25 or so? Then City Tap House has a beer for you.

Bakers this weekend can trade 25 holiday cookies for a complimentary pint of Cookie Swap Weizenbock, a limited edition holiday collaboration beer from City Tap House and Yards Brewing Co. The cookie swap takes place Saturday, Dec. 3 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at City Tap House's University City (3925 Walnut St.) and Logan Square (2 Logan Sq.) locations.

The beer itself was inspired by the holiday season's sweets, as well as the recent trend of cookie swap parties. Brewed with fresh ginger and molasses, the German-style weizenbock — or "wheat bock," a strong hefeweizen — is reminiscent of ginger snap cookies, but with a 6.2 percent ABV.

If you can't bake, or can't make it, don't fret. City Tap House will have the Cookie Swap Weizenbock available on draught throughout the winter, and will also offers growler fills of the brew for $20.
