Vetri's gig at Pat's Steaks nets $4,000 for charity
Sandwich sales brought in $1,500 for Vetri's foundation, but Pat's owner Frank Olivieri kicked in $2,500 from his own pocket.
Standing at the grill of Pat's King of Steaks, spatula in hand, must have been a major departure for chef Marc Vetri, but the experience netted $4,000 for his nonprofit Vetri Community Partnership.
Pat's owner Frank Olivieri had invited Vetri to work at the cheesesteak landmark for two hours Jan. 21, preparing a special cheesesteak: Taleggio cheese and fried mortadella (both from Di Bruno Bros) to top the beef, cherry peppers, and onions. The sandwiches were built on Aversa rolls.
