A Nutter presidency?

Mayor Nutter, who has been attending a conference in Oklahoma since Friday, is flying back to Philadelphia this afternoon, escaping torrential rains that have created a flooding nightmare in Oklahoma City.

It was a good conference for the mayor, according to his aides.

Why so good? Because if Nutter wins reelection as mayor next year, he'll get another prize: to hold the 2012 title of president of the U.S. Conference of Mayors.

That organization elected new leaders during its Oklahoma meeting. Nutter is now serving as 2nd vice president, a job he will have for one year. Then he will move up to 1st vice president and then - voila! - president.
