Nutter bound for Obamaland

Mayor Nutter heads to Chicago to meet with senior Obama transition officials.

Mayor Nutter and his chief of staff Clarence Armbrister will meet with Valerie Jarrett, a senior adviser to President Elect Barack Obama in Chicago on Thursday morning. The agenda: what priorites should the new White House Office of Urban Policy have in an Obama administration?

Although the meeting is likely to cover a wide range of issues, Nutter will almost certainly raise the need for federal help on infrastructure, pension funds and the foreclosure crisis, according to the mayor's press office. News reports have identified Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion as the head of the new urban policy office, though a formal announcement has yet to be made.

The meeting will include a handful of mayors from other U.S. cities like Denver, Providence and Seattle.
