Ben Franklin Bridge switches open pedestrian walkway

Walkers, runners and cyclists who cross the Delaware River over the Ben Franklin Bridge now need to adjust which walkway they use.

Walkers, runners and cyclists who cross the Delaware River over the Ben Franklin Bridge now need to adjust which walkway they use.

Starting Wednesday, the pedestrian walkway on the north side of the bridge is open while the south walkway is closed.

The Delaware River Port Authority said the switch would be in place for about a month so platform work can be done on the bridge's south side.

The north walkway is open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. The entrance to the walkway is at 5th Street and Marginal Road (there is also an underpass to the north side from the south walkway's entrance at 5th and Florist Streets).
