PA, NJ shut out of early US broadband grants

"Just the first grants from the first round"

VP Biden came to Pennsylvania last summer to promote the government's $7.2 billion broadband Internet finance/stimulus program, but Pennsylvania- and New Jersey- based companies missed the first $180 million cut, announced today (one New York grantee says it will do some work in northeast PA).

"None are centralized in PA or NJ," but "these are just the first grants from the first round of applications. Grants from the first round will continue to be announced on a rolling basis through February," National Telecommunications and Infrastructure Administration spokeswoman Jessica Schafer tells me.
