While you might have already have been sleeping, Beyonce was busy last night.
She released a brand new 'visual album' called Beyonce on iTunes. It has 14 new songs and 17 videos. "Drunk in Love" features Jay-Z, Drake is on "Mine," Frank Ocean sings on "Superpower," and Blue Ivy herself chimes in on "Blue."
All year long, as Beyonce played around the world on the Mrs. Carter Show - including a headlining stop at her husband's Made in America festival in Philadelphia - it was expected that she would drop a new album sometime in 2013. The surprise was that it didn't happen, and eventually everyone gave up. But now here it is, and the music industry can be thankful: There's a new Beyonce album out in time for Christmas, after all..
In a press release, Beyonce said, "I didn't want to release my music the way I've done it. I am bored with that. I feel like I am able to speak directly to my fans. There's so much that gets between the music, the artist and the fans. I felt like I didn't want anybody to give the message when my record is coming out. I just want this to come out when it's ready and from me to my fans."
The album will be released as a physical product on Monday, but for now it's available only on iTunes.
