UPDATE: "Mr. Philadelphia" rapper Meek Mill's lunchtime concert at South Philly High cancelled

Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill, the mix tape king born Robert Rahmeek Williams who's signed to Rick Ross' Maybach Music label and whose official debut allbum, A Hustlers Dream, A Haters Nightmare, is due in 2012, is set to play a show at South Philadelphia High School on Tuesday afternoon at 1 p.m. Meek Mill, who grew in both North and South Philadelphia and released his Mr. Philadelphia mixtape in 2010, will appear with school principal Otis Hackney in honoring high achieving students, and might be handing a few pairs of shoes, too, judging from his Twitter feed, which on Monday read, "bout to hit a few schools and give out a bunch of brand new sneaks ....#thegiveback."

UPDATE: No free sneakers today, South Philly High students. The Meek Mill concert has been "cancelled due to Meek Mill's schedule; we are working on rescheduling for sometime in the near future and apologize about any inconvenience," acording to a statement from City Year Greater Philadelphia, who were putting on the show.
