APP ONLY: Significance of Cowboys game

We are in the stretch run of the NFL season, and every game is important for teams trying to get into the playoffs.

Having said that (shout-out to Larry David), the stakes for the Eagles against the Cowboys are not as great as you might think.

If the Birds lose to Dallas, they'll be 8-5. They'd go up against a Giants team that will be either 8-5 or 9-4 next Sunday.

And pretty much everything will come down to that Week 15 matchup. In other words, if the Eagles lose to the Cowboys, the division is still their's if they beat the Giants.

You might be thinking: But won't a division loss kill the Birds? Not if we're talking about a tie with the Giants and the Eagles winning that Week 15 game because the first tiebreak is head-to-head.

Don't get me wrong. The game is still important. If the Eagles end up losing to the Giants in Week 15, their attention will likely turn to the wild card.

But just something to keep in mind as the different scenarios play out over the weekend.
