APP ONLY: Eagles rooting guide for Week 16

It's the playoff scenario portion of the NFL schedule.

So here's a simple "rooting guide" for Eagles fans today:

1. Root for a Giants loss to the Packers at 4:15. A Giants loss gives the Eagles the NFC East title before they even take the field at the Linc to take on the Vikings at 8:20.

2. Root for a Bears loss to the Jets at 1 p.m. The Eagles are still very much in the mix for the No. 2 seed, which brings with it a first-round bye. But they need to pick up a game on Chicago. If the Bears lose to the Jets, the Birds control their own destiny for that No. 2 seed. They'd just need to win their final two games.

3. Root for a Bucs loss to the Seahawks. If the Giants win today, a Bucs loss clinches a playoff berth for the Eagles. Not the division, but at least a wild card. Tampa Bay plays in Seattle at 4:15 p.m.

4. Root for the Eagles to beat the Vikings. Yeah, you could have probably figured this one out. If the Birds lose, they would need the Bears to go 0-2 to earn the No. 2 seed. If the Giants win, and the Eagles lose, the division will be decided in Week 17.
