Villanova's Darrun Hilliard named Big 5 Player of the Year

Although Villanova's season ended in disappointing fashion, the Wildcats' overall success got some deserved recognition on Monday.

'Nova guard Darrun Hilliard was named Big 5 Player of the Year, and backcourt partner Ryan Arcidiacono was also named to the all-Big 5 first team. Phil Booth won Rookie of the Year honors, and big men Daniel Ochefu and JayVaughn Pinkston were named to the all-Big 5 second team. Jay Wright also took home Coach of the Year honors.

The award-winners will be recognized at the Big 5 banquet on Monday, April 13 at the Palestra. Banquet tickets are $50 each and can be reserved by contacting Steve Crider at 814-935-5015 or steve@philadelphiabig5.org.

Player of the Year: Darrun Hilliard (Villanova)

Rookie of the Year: Phil Booth (Villanova)

Coach of the Year: Jay Wright (Villanova)

Most improved Player: Daniel Ochefu (Villanova)

Scholar Athlete: Hank Davis (La Salle)

Leading Scorer: DeAndre' Bembry (Saint Joseph's)

Leading Free Throw Shooter: Josh Brown (Temple)
