Moultrie scrimmages for first time

DENVER – 76ers reserve power forward Arnett Moultrie participated in five-on-five scrimmaging for the first time this season at Tuesday's practice at the University of Denver.

"I'm glad to be out there, making progress," said the 6-foot-10, 240-pounder, who had surgery on his left ankle in the preseason. "Obviously, I was a little winded."

Moultrie had resumed participating in team drills on Thursday as part of his rehabilitation.  He's expected to play in his first game in January. An exact date for his return will depend on his conditioning, which at the time is no good.

"This was my first time doing five-on-five in like two or three months," said Moultrie, who was winded during warm-ups amid the Denver's high altitude

The second-year player injured his ankle while participating in pre-training camp conditioning in September.

He averaged 3.7 points, 3.1 rebounds and 11.5 minutes in 47 games played last season as a rookie.  But Moultrie showed some promise, making 12 consecutive shot attempts during a four-game span from Feb. 28 to March 5.  He also shot 66.7 percent during his final 14 games played in the 2012-13 season.
