More festivals are a-coming. On Sunday, Oct. 19, a group of fellas who know how to hold down a party, The Philly Homebrew Club (1447 N. American St.), is throwing their 8th Annual Made On American Street Festival providing guests off all ages with quality entertainment all can have a blast with.
Beginning at 1 p.m., the Philly Homebrew Club brewed up some fresh autumn beers for those of age to enjoy, welcoming the seasonal tastes of the next few months in store. As you wash down some craft brews, enjoy live music by the band Shakedown and if you have kids … they can jam out by jumping on a giant bouncy castle.
As for the food — we wouldn't leave you hanging here. If one food pairs great with street festivals and beer it's barbecue, and what's even better is that it's a barbecue competition. Get a taste of lip-smackin' ribs from participating stations of four culinary amateurs, experts, and everything in between as they try to smoke their way to first place. So you're at this event, you clearly love booze and food, but do you consider yourself a pit master? Grab a team and register online for a chance to win prizes and some new barbecue-loving fans.
Ribs aren't just the only food being mastered. Teams will also have a chance to whip up barbecue's favorite side item, mac and cheese. But this isn't your everyday cheddar mac n' cheese competition; this is an anything-goes cook-off. Think about all the possibilities: pickles, wasabi, pumpkins, and whatever else may be your next favorite addition to this American classic dish.
Here's the pricing deal. $35 full admission in advance gets you a take-home Philadelphia Homebrew Club glass, all the food you can eat, and endless pours of autumn brews. Without the glass, admission is $25 in advance. Kids under 12 eat/play for free. Tickets are $40/30 at door.
