Embattled Bill Cosby thanks Whoopi Goldberg, Jill Scott for reserving judgement

LOS ANGELES (Variety.com) - Bill Cosby has taken to Twitter this week to thank Whoopi Goldberg and Jill Scott for their cautious remarks amid the controversy over mounting accusations of rape and sexual assault levied against the comedian by more than 20 women.

LOS ANGELES (Variety.com) - Bill Cosby has taken to Twitter this week to thank Whoopi Goldberg and Jill Scott for their cautious remarks amid the controversy over mounting accusations of rape and sexual assault levied against the comedian by more than 20 women.

Goldberg seemed to defend Cosby on the Nov. 17 episode of ABC's "The View," or at least give him the benefit of the doubt.

"I hope that there is justice for this lady," she said at the time. "I hope somebody gets to the bottom of this, but I'm going to reserve my judgment because I have a lot of questions, as I said. It's crazy, but I have a lot of questions, because I know we all have friends who have gone through this."

Scott has responded to Twitter users defending Cosby as well, saying the public should wait for proof before condemning him.

Cosby's accusers continue to come forward, including a new lawsuit that alleges he molested a 15-year-old girl.
