Just how much do fees help airlines? Lots

One of the most significant developments in the airline business in decades, maybe in its history, is the embrace of separate fees for services and products once included in the price of a ticket, generating ancillary revenue for the industry that now is outstripping ticket revenue. The latest tally of just how much each airline is taking in from fees is detailed in a report from the Asia Pacific Centre for Aviation on a study by IdeaWorks, the consulting firm that began to track the numbers a few years ago.
