IBX donates $100K for school fitness
Independence Blue Cross is donating $10,000 each to 10 schools in Philadelphia, Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery Counties for a fitness initiative aimed at reducing childhood obesity and increasing student exercise.
Independence Blue Cross is donating $10,000 each to 10 schools in Philadelphia, Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery Counties for a fitness initiative aimed at reducing childhood obesity and increasing student exercise.
The effort is being coordinated through the state, with the state Department of Health also providing each school with $5,000 through the federal Preventive Health and Health Services Block Grant.
The schools are expected to use the money during this school year on activities the offer 30 minutes daily of moderate to vigorous exercise. The initiative also involves the Pennsylvani Education Department.

Owen J. Roberts Middle School, Chester County
Scott Middle School, Chester County
Glenolden School, Delaware County
Cedarbrook Middle School, Montgomery County
Anna Lane Lingelbach School, Philadelphia County
Penrose Elementary School, Philadelphia County
Charles W. Henry School, Philadelphia County
John H. Taggart School, Philadelphia County
Baldi Middle School, Philadelphia County
