Comcast Corp. and the nation's large pay-TV companies will make available The Interview through pay-per-view for $5.99, Sony Pictures Entertainment said on Wednesday.
The controversial political comedy stars Seth Rogen and James Franco who were instructed to assassinate North Korea leader Kim Jong-un. Sony Pictures cancelled the broad release of the movie to theaters when it feared reprisals by hackers.
So far The Interview has been available only in a small number of movie theaters and online. Those agreeing to distribute the movie over the pay-per-view platform, in addition to Comcast, include Verizon FiOS, Time Warner Cable, Charter Communications and DirecTV.
