Don't expect a lot of "new" in this spot today: The average for a gallon of regular no-lead was up a cent in the Philadelphia area and in South Jersey, according to AAA Mid-Atlantic.

The average moved up a cent to $4.04 in the five-county Philadelphia region, and up a cent to $3.88 in South Jersey.

At the national level, the price stayed the same, at $3.98.

In the diesel lines, the change in diesel prices was mixed overnight:

The Philadelphia region saw the average hold steady at $4.99; South Jersey saw a 1-cent decrease, to $4.73.

At the national level, the average diesel price was down a cent, to $4.78.

A drop in oil prices gave inflation-wary investors some relief; light, sweet crude fell $1.57 to $126.19 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

But oil prices remain near record highs and are keeping energy costs elevated for consumers, whose spending accounts for more than two-thirds of economic growth.
