Gasoline price steady in region, up a cent nationally

The average price for a gallon of regular gasoline held overnight in the Philadelphia area, but rose by one cent for the nation as a whole, AAA Mid-Atlantic said today.

The average price for a gallon of regular gasoline held overnight in the Philadelphia area, but rose by one cent for the nation as a whole, AAA Mid-Atlantic said today.

The price average in southeastern Pennsylvania stood at $1.77 per gallon, while in South Jersey it was $1.54, the auto club said.

The National gas average rose to $1.67. Its record high was $4.11 a gallon, set on July 6.

Crude oil prices were little changed as markets braced for OPEC to announce at its meeting in Algeria that it would cut output, possibly by as much as 2 million barrels a day, and as investors waited to see whether Russia would join in the production cuts, the Associated Press said.
