Pump prices for gasoline, which remain nearly 60 percent below the summer high of $4.11 per gallon nationally, held steady overnight in the region and for the country, AAA Mid-Atlantic said today.

The price in southeastern Pennsylvania stood at $1.77 per gallon. In South Jersey it was $1.54. And for the nation as a whole it was $1.67, the auto club said.

Crude oil prices continued falling today to levels last seen over 4 years ago as persistent investor pessimism over global crude demand outweighed news of OPEC's largest-ever production cut, according to the Associated Press.
