BioNanomatrix Inc., of Philadelphia, today named its board chairman, Edward L. Erickson, as the new president and chief executive officer of the start-up biomedical research company.

Erickson succeeds Michael Boyce-Jacino, who has stepped down as president and CEO, and from the board, the company said. Battelle Ventures general partner Tracy Warren succeeds Erickson as chairperson.

Warren said in a statement that Boyce-Jacino's "scientific expertise helped guide the company through its initial venture funding and early product development," and that Erickson is taking the reins as the firm moves toward marketing a system for DNA analysis.
