Simon Property gets financing for UK bid

Simon Property Group Inc. announced today that it has an agreement with a group of lenders for a 3 billion-pound ($4.6 billion) loan in its bid to buy Capital Shopping Centres Group P.L.C., which owns 13 shopping centers throughout the United Kingdom.

The group of banks is headed by Citigroup Inc., Deutsche Bank AG, Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and Morgan Stanley, Simon Property said.

The Indianapolis-based company - the largest owner of U.S. malls - has an ownership stake in a number of properties in the Philadelphia region, including the King of Prussia Mall as well as the Franklin Mills, Montgomery, Oxford Valley, and Granite Run malls.    - Roslyn Rudolph
