Inqlings | Will Annenberg mansion be Eagles owner's aerie?
Looks as if Eagles owners Jeffrey and Christina Lurie have bought that new nest in Wynnewood - and the $14 million price could be a record for a single-family home in Montgomery County, if not the entire Main Line.

Looks as if Eagles owners
Jeffrey and Christina Lurie
have bought that new nest in Wynnewood - and the $14 million price could be a record for a single-family home in Montgomery County, if not the entire Main Line.
Records show that a sale was recorded last week for Inwood, the 13-acre spread once home to philanthropist Walter Annenberg and his wife, Leonore. Together, its four parcels of land would make up 10 football fields, including end zones. The house has 18 rooms; grounds along Cherry Lane include a greenhouse and a three-hole golf course.
In April, I reported that an agreement of sale had been signed and that Main Line land watchers had pegged the Luries as the buyers.
The Luries, who live in nearby Haverford, are still silent about the deal. The buyer is identified in public records only as trusts in care of two lawyers from Jeff Lurie's old stomping grounds of Boston.
One of the lawyers/trustees, Mark D. Balk, is, like the Luries, also a board member of the Nancy Lurie Marks Family Foundation, which is devoted to autism research and education. Public records also show that Balk represented Jeff Lurie's family's former interests in businesses, including Harcourt General Inc. and Neiman Marcus Group. Citing his firm's policy, Balk declined comment.
Meanwhile, it's uncertain whether the prized plot - a rare expanse of untouched Lower Merion land - will be developed. Mike Weilbacher, executive director of the Lower Merion Conservancy, yesterday said he'd approach new owners "once the dust has settled."
Annenberg, the former Inquirer publisher and ambassador, died in 2002. Lee Annenberg lives at their home in the California desert.
Tops
Things are looking up at the Comcast Center, under construction at 17th and JFK. With the next "lift" of steel - any moment now - the skyscaper will pass One Liberty Place's 945 feet, making it the tallest structure in the city. It will stop at 975 feet and open for business starting this fall. Operator Liberty Property Trust plans a "topping-off" ceremony for Monday.
